My love of retro – the 1920’s flapper

Anyone who knows me will also know that I love all things retro, from Victoriana all the way down to 80’s Madonna kitsch – I love pretty much anything from eras gone by. Not a surprise that I love Mad Men and and collect vintage glassware – that I love all things 40’s and 60’s.

But one of my favourite times of eras ever has got to be the roaring twenties – the wild 1920’s are one of my favourite times ever! From the amazing fashion to the exciting new dances, the long strings of pearls and diamante brooches, the gorgeous headbands, the cocktails, the elegant long cigarette holders, the flamboyant cars, from the iconic flapper girl Zelda Fritzgerald to the one and only Gabriel Coco Chanel and The Great Gatsby, the feathers and the furs to the feeling of freedom after WWI and sense of hope and recovery – the world of the 1920’s flapper must have been beautiful – so elegant, chic, carefree and rebellious all at once!
