Valentine’s Day?

It’s that time of the year again – Valentine’s Day is crawling, creeping and edging up on us (and yes we all hate it really, but we can’t seem to get away from it) – in about 2 glorious weeks it’s that time again…just when you were relieved Christmas was done and over with, were trying to overcome the January blues…and hey, no pressure – now you need to dig yourself out of the January depression, get over the fact that you’re still totally broke from Christmas and find perfect presents for your loved ones…apparently, so they tell you (and me but I’m trying to ignore it).

Personally, really I think it should be more about the gesture – just to show that signficant other/ mother/ sister/ daughter/ friend that you love them and haven’t forgotten about them and think of them - maybe even something slightly cheesy actually?

I’ve done a little dig around for what would put a smile on my face if I unwrapped it this 14th of February…et voila, here we go – my selection for Valentine’s Day gifts take #1:

The super cute “Je t’adore” thread bracelet by Bijoux Bar – amazing as a friendship bracelet or for a sister! Only £23/ $36/ €27 as well – hello?!

Love this chunky colourful beaded bangle by Toujours Toi spelling out LOVE in bright coloured beads (usually not much of a bead-lover myself usually) – especially with the summer coming up, wear it with a clean simple white tank top and denim shorts? I can see much more wear coming out of this than a one-off Valentine’s extravaganza, can’t you? And at £41/ $64/ €49.50 it’s a summer must-have!

The slick modern bathroom

So following on from my last post about the uber-girlie, cutesy, romantic French bath tubs that I adore, I also love a clean, slick, modern bathroom as well. I stayed at this lovely little boutique hotel in Paris once (the Hotel Gabriel in Marais) which has an absolutely gorgeous bath – like an egg shell chopped in half and balanced on a gorgeous wooden floor with a huge rainforest shower head over it…it was amazing, you just wanted to stay in it forever…

I know this is so very random and looks like a super mundane old-people’s-thing-to-do, but since my growing addiction to Pinterest.com is taking over more and more of my free time, I’m getting to boards about the most random subjects – including bathrooms (this is the boring grown-up-people-part) and what type of bathroom I’d love to have in my amazing dream home, my tastes are either super girlie, quirky and classic or uber modern, minimalist and slick (split personality much?!)…but one thing I definitely love is a classic French bath tub – the old school ones with the “feet” you know…so let’s have a look at the pre-selection of my claw foot bath tubs so far:

My obsession with gold

If you met me for the first time in the past year or two it would be hard to imagine that not very long ago I only wore silver, all through school I hated gold, I thought it looked tacky and ugly and gold jewellery was for old women – old Asian Auntyjis to be precise actually.

Since my trip to Burma this has all changed, I’ve learnt to embrace my Asian side and with that the love of gold – and my, how fully have I embraced and grown and developed and honed my love for gold jewelry since! From huge gold earrings to gold bracelets and anything that is a gold statement piece, I have, crave, love and want them all…here is a little selection of some pieces I’m currently lusting after:

Well, basically if I think about it now, there’s no reason not to love gold (and I mean love passionately with all your heart) – it’s beautiful, classic, valuable (read: investment rather than cheapo jewellery off the highstreet though you now only have 1 lovely piece instead of 25 pieces of trash for the same price – quality vs. quantity?) and goes well with any other colour really?!

Here are some stunning gold earrings (they are H-U-G-E but weigh nothing – light as a feather, so delicately made & so comfortable to wear!) I bought in December (kind of a Christmas present to myself?):
