Thursday night was Stag & Dagger in Shoreditch. An awesome event organised by the uber cool Vice UK it gave you entry to 15 locations presenting over a 100 artists and DJs. Who was I going to see? DJ A Trak
He performed live at the Cargo from 22:30 on and moi was definitely there! I was the most present person in the most crowded location of all! At least so it felt like to me…I was super impatient at the bar to head to bar dancefloor and danced from the second I stepped on to the moment I stepped off 2 hours later. This guy is absolutely fan-ta-bu-lous!! Seeing him live is phenomenal, anyone can tell he hasn’t been winning all those awards and blowing Kanye’s mind without reason!! PHENOMENAL!!!
ps: he gets bonus points anyway for being the little brother of Dave 1
and we all know I worship that guy!
ps2: I made a video as well but the mic of my camera is f#cked (unfortunately the result of going to the MM concert a few months ago) so the sound sucks despite it being awesome to see him live…lets see if I can edit it somehow and post it on here…
Wikipedia helps us out:
Alain Macklovitch (born March 30, 1982) is a Montreal-based DJ and turntablist. He performs and records under the name A-Trak.
A-Trak won the DMCs World DJ Championship in 1997 at the age of 15, the youngest recipient of the award ever. He is also the first Canadian to ever win the DMCs World DJ Championship. On top of being the youngest world champion, he is the only DJ to win all three major DJ competition titles (DMC, ITF and Vestax) and the first DJ to win five world championships. He was later asked to join the Invisibl Skratch Piklz, and is a member of The Allies. A-Trak cites the DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince album “He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper” as a big influence into turntablism. A-Trak is the younger brother of Dave-1, the guitarist and lead singer of the synth-pop electro-funk duo Chromeo.
He is currently supporting Kanye West as a DJ. A-Trak uses Serato Scratch LIVE.
A-Trak also runs his own labels called “Fool’s Gold” with Nick Catchdubs & Audio Research with his brother.
